Creating and uploading a course map (gpx)
Basic Editor
From the Leaderboard details screen you can select the Draw Course option to open a basic course editor right within the admin portal.
Our editor will work great for simple courses, but sometimes you want to use a more advanced editor, or import an existing track.
Creating a GPX file
There are a few options available to create gpx files online. Some of them require an account some are available without account. Here are a few of our favorites:
- GPS Visualizer is easy to use and free
- Wandermap is free and has a handy ''follow roads' option
- GPX Editor is a bit more complicated to use but has some more advanced tools (some free, some paid)
- Trun Geo Trac is a useful tool to reduce complexity of long or detailed gpx files so they load faster. Please don't have more than 500 datapoints in your gpx file. Try to create a file < 50 kb in size.
- gpx.studio, another great gpx editor and file size reducer. Allows upload of huge files
- Convert Google Maps (directions) to GPX with the amazing mapstogpx.com
- US State outlines can be downloaded in KML format here and then converted to gpx.
Once you have prepared your route make sure to download it to your computer as a .gpx file so you can import this file.
Uploading the GPX
