Setting Scoring Method for Team Daily/Weekly Goal Leaderboards

Note that you will get an error message in your event if you create a team leaderboard and your event is set for No Teams. To learn more about team assignment rules, see the Choosing Your Team Assignment Rules knowledge base article.

When creating leaderboards, you will have the option of including a team leaderboard in addition to or instead of an individual leaderboard. This article explains what each scoring setting means.

Team Scoring Options

  • DEFAULT - Teams will be ranked in the leaderboard based on which team has the highest total steps, time, or distance.
  • TOTAL - Teams will be ranked in the leaderboard based on which team has the highest total steps, time, or distance.
  • AVERAGE - Teams will be ranked in the leaderboard based on which team has the highest average steps, time, or distance. This setting is useful when teams have different numbers of participants.

Daily and Weekly Target leaderboards offer some similar options as well as a few extras.

  • Combined score - Teams will be ranked based on which teams have the most members achieving the goal most often.
  • Average - Teams will be ranked based on which teams have the highest average number of members achieving the goal.
  • Minimum for all - Teams will be ranked in the leaderboard based on which team had every member achieve the goal most often.
  • At least one - Teams will be ranked in the leaderboard based on which team had at least one member achieve the goal most often.

Keep the following in mind when designing your challenge rules:

  1. With Daily/Weekly Target leaderboards, in case of a tie, Teams will be listed in the order of who has the highest total score.
  2. If a team achieves its daily target with the Minimum for all setting, and then someone joins the next day, the score may appear to be inaccurate. For example, if a team of three reaches the target of 10000 steps per day or 30000 total steps, and the next day a new member joins who only has 8000 steps for the previous day. The leaderboard will show that the team achieved the goal, but the total score will appear as 38000 instead of 40000. If this is an issue, you may not want to allow people to join existing teams once the event begins.
